Yoga from the heart

Yoga in Weston-super-Mare

My path to yoga was a long time coming. I spent years thinking that yoga was all about just lying on the floor – who wants to pay good money for that???

I finally came to yoga after being advised to take it up by a clinician following a period of stress related ill health.

It changed my life.

Yoga found me, saw me, held me and nurtured me. And yes, it does involve a bit of lying on the floor! But it is also so much more than that. In my body I have discovered ease, flexibility and strength. In my mind I have found peace, joy and balance. In my life I have found friends, passion and wisdom.

Yoga and meditation are widely believed to be a helpful mental health support, particularly for managing stress and symptoms of anxiety and depression.

Yoga and mindfulness practice is now part of my daily life and has seen me through some tough times. I discovered that the benefits of yoga reach way beyond the hour on the mat.

It is now my pleasure to be able to share the joy and value of yoga out in the world, with people like you, in a way that is simple, accessible and enjoyable.

Discover your yoga

Yoga isn’t about being perfect.

You don’t need to be super fit, super flexible or have the latest in lycra.

Yoga is about you. Noticing how you feel. Exploring what your body can do today. Finding your moments of stillness as well as movement.

The yoga I offer is grounded in Hatha yoga, with an emphasis on compassionate, gently energising yoga poses (asana) with breath awareness practices (pranayama), mudra (symbolic hand gestures) and meditation to bring a sense of peace and balance to both body and mind.

My teaching is gentle, curious and adaptable, with encouragement to work with your own body rather than against it. There is no pressure to do more than you feel comfortable with. Sessions are tailored to you, rather than asking you to fit into a set class. You get to choose.

Whether you want to explore the benefits of yoga to complement your counselling journey, or as a stand alone, personalised practice, you will find attentive, experienced guidance in a warm, welcoming and supportive space.
